Paul's California Budget 2004-2005 Explorer

Observations:

K-12 spending per pupil is $9614. That's approaching $300K per classroom...the teacher is not getting paid enough (optimistically $60K?), where is the rest of all that money going?
Medi-Cal is $20400 per recipient annually from the general fund alone. Something like 80% of people in nursing homes are on Medi-Cal thanks to asset-hiding loopholes that allow most people to appear bankrupt in the eyes of the state. (Source: Len Tillem KGO Radio)
The CA budget is way more complicated and convoluted than the federal budget. It's really quite impressive.
